I received confirmation that I was allowed to have a double shot of radiation treatment in order for me to go home early.

I trudged into the clinic, tired as heck because of the thunder storm last night. I greeted the receptionist. She took my appointment card, whited out my appointment time for tomorrow and informed me that tomorrow would be two appointments. My eyes widened in surprise. Then happiness.

After treatment I hurried back to the lodge, called my parents to let them know I was coming home. I let the lodge know I was leaving early and then called the bus to make an appointment for a ride.

My mom called back to remark that my dad was checking my apartment to make sure it was clean.

“What do you mean if it’s clean?” I asked “I cleaned before I left. There should be only dust on the floor and furniture!”

My mom then asked my dad who was listening if it was true. “Her apartment is clean” he assured us.

I snorted. “Don’t even try with me, mother!”

“Maybe I will mess it up!” My mother shot back.

“Don’t even think about it!” I screeched.

Then the bus company called to tell me I couldn’t have senior rate because I wasn’t born in 1959. I was staring at my phone in disbelief. What the hell?

I left clear and precise information about why I wanted a bus ticket. (We don’t have Greyhound, so we have to book coach or medical)

“Excuse me?” My voice was cool.

“It says here you booked for senior seat.”

“No I booked for medical. I’m a cancer patient.”

Well that changed her attitude “so you have traveled with us before. And you said Sunday? well I was double checking my co-workers work” she informed me.

She hung up and left me staring at my phone in disbelief!
